Monday 7th:

- Review

  1. Agendas out and copy yellow
  2. Logon to your Google Account using Firefox.  

- New

  1. Logon to your Google Documents and view the file called Help with Night Lights and Google Sky (If the link doesn’t work, make sure your are using FireFox, and then open your Google Docs and look in the section called ‘Collections shared with me for your class period… it’s in the View folder for your class). Open the Sky Tour kmz file after you read the Help Document which will explain how to do steps 3-7 below.

  1. View ‘This Semester at a Glance Prezi to give you some ideas for the weekly reflection form
  2. Complete the Reflections for the Week Form
  3. Open Google Earth and view the Earth at night using the Earth City Lights option (which is explained in the Help with Night Lights and Google Sky file)
  4. Open your Google Docs (using Firefox) and open the Sky Tour.kmz file  (the directions for this step are also explained in the Help with Night Lights and Google Sky file)
  5. Browse through the Sky Tour in Google Earth (Sky mode)
  6. Open InterWrite (purple shortcut on your desktop) and collect images from your Sky Tour
  7. Export your InterWrite file as ‘Sky Tour’ and upload it to your 103 Folder

    Tuesday 8th:

    - Review

    2. Logon to your Google Account using Firefox

    1. View student travel collages in this World Tour 1 collection video clip
    2. I would like to create the same sort of video tour of your collages from Google Sky, but I don’t see any completed student examples in your 103 folders yet!

    - Do 

    1. Complete yesterday's Sky Tour assignment.  Here are the steps again (I’ve reset the links in case they gave you problems yesterday):
      1. Open your Google Docs (using Firefox) and open the Sky Tour.kmz file  (the directions for this step are also explained in the Help with Night Lights and Google Sky file)
      2. Browse through the Sky Tour in Google Earth (Sky mode)
      3. Open InterWrite (purple shortcut on your desktop) and collect images from your Sky Tour
      4. Export your InterWrite file as ‘Sky Tour’ and upload it to your 103 Folder
    2. Once you have completed uploading your Sky Tour image collection to your 103 folder, try the tours Google has built-in to Google Sky.  You can get to them by looking in the layers section at the bottom left panel in Google Sky.  Here are some directions to help you with ‘Welcome to Sky’

    Wednesday 9th:

    1. View student travel collages in this World Tour 1 collection video clip
    2. View Flamepainter presentation
    3. Introduce Flamepainter program (Use IE for this program)

    - Do 

    1. Create several Flamepainter designs and use InterWrite or OneNote to capture them
    2. Export your file as Flames PNG (or ‘save as’ if using OneNote) and upload it to your 103  folder
    3. Use the same export, save and upload process to upload your Sky Tour collection to your 103 folder so that I can see them.

    1. View these 2010 National Geographic Photography Contest Entry Photos.  Choose different weeks from the ‘Select a Week’ dropdown box to view more photos.

    Thursday 10th:

    - Review

    1. Agendas out and copy yellow
    2. Logon to your Google Account using Firefox

    - New

    1. Introduce Google Presentation.  View example ‘Flamepainter images’ presentation and then walk through creating a simple 6 slide presentation called ‘My Greatest Images’.  Drag it into your 103 folder for use later on today.

    - Do 

    1. Open, discuss and explore your Class View folder and contents (in Google Docs – Collections shared with me).  You should have the following files uploaded to your 103 folder:
      1. Sky Tour PNG (view help file and example here)
      2. Flames PNG (view examples in Class View folder)
    2. Begin working on your Greatest Images presentation with your top 5 (or more) favorite images from your saved pictures folder (can be pictures, collages or artwork, like sumopaint or flamepainter).  Make sure you drag your presentation into your 103 folder so I can view it!

    Friday 11th:

    - Review

    2. Logon to your Google Account using Firefox

    1. View The Future Internet - Semantic Technologies and Personal Reputation

    1. View This Semester at a Glance Prezi to give you some ideas for the weekly reflection form
    2. Complete the Reflections for the Week Form
    3. Open the FAQs file for your class period (in your Google Docs class period edit folder)
    4. Number the assignments in your 103 folder to match this list (just rename the files with the number in front of the name).  For example, 4.1 is the 1st assignment of the 4th 6 weeks. Each assignment numbered correctly is worth 1 extra credit point toward your 4th 6 weeks grade!
    5. If you have questions about any assignments, add them below the list on the FAQs file.  Students who use the FAQs file appropriately will be allowed to edit it (that is add their own notes and comments) but those who don’t will only be allowed to view it in the future.
    6. You can practice editing in the practice file in the same folder
    7. Complete and number assignments 4.1 through 4.11.  We will start 4.12 next week.
